Outraged by the ban on Iceland's palm oil Christmas ad? Switch up your food shop with these ethical picks

6 Palm-Free Products To Try

We’ve known for a while that palm oil is causing devastation in the rainforest, and you might be surprised to learn that many of your everyday food items including many nut butters, Oreos and even Cadbury’s chocolate contain palm oil!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks, you will have heard about the controversy surrounding Iceland’s 2018 Christmas ad campaign. It highlights the plight of orangutans coping with deforestation at the hands of palm oil growers, and a petition to get the ad onto TV has now reached over 670,000 signatures. Clearcast, the advertising watchdog, banned the ad after it was deemed too political due to its association with Greenpeace; however this hasn’t stopped the message spreading, as more than five million people have watched it online via the supermarket chain’s YouTube channel.

Looking to curb your palm oil use in everyday products? Try one of these palm-oil-free offerings!
