1. Spain
Spain is the world’s biggest producer of olive oil, so packing a bottle in your suitcase is a must. Also, pick up Pimentón de la Vera – Spanish paprika – which comes in three varieties sweet, semi-sweet and hot.
2. France
Blogger David Lebovitz suggests getting hold of some Amora mustard on your next trip across the Channel as it’s ‘très bon et très forte’ (very good and very strong). He also advises hitting local markets for an unrivalled range and quality of small kitchen gadgets.
3. America
The USA isn’t known for its cuisine as much as its large portions, so embrace the junk food and feast yourself on the range of veggie candy available. Pixy Stix, Jolly Ranchers, Twizzlers, Fireballs and Air Heads are all suitable for vegans.
4. Italy
This list could have filled the magazine so we’ll keep it short: balsamic vinegar from Modena, truffleflavoured oil or pasta, coffee, limoncello and amalfi lemons that have a wonderfully thick and aromatic zest perfect for cooking (and which are now available from Ocado).
5. Germany
Sure, you might think Germany is the wurst(!) for vegetarians, but you’d be wrong! Research before you go and make sure your travels involve a trip to Veganz, a vegan supermarket chain. Fill your basket with meat and dairy-free delights, most of which you’ll have never tried before.
