The best veggie pie recipes to celebrate British Pie Week

Sweet and savoury pies that are sure to fill you up.

The best veggie pie recipes to celebrate British Pie Week

It’s British Pie Week! To celebrate, we’re eating all the pies we can muster over the next few days. Comforting and hearty, pies are extremely versatile. From pot pies to cottage pies, they can be savoury or sweet; fully encased in a pastry or simply topped with mashed potato.

Whether you consider yourself to be a novice cook, or an experienced chef, you can still create something delicious. Don’t let the concept of a pastry put you off, either: while many recipes may include homemade puff pastry, you can always opt for store-bought versions to save time and energy. If you do put in the extra effort, though, creating your own pastry from scratch is always worth it!

Here are some of our favourite pie recipes for you to try at home, from easy options to savoury midweek meals.

1. Easy Key Lime Pie

This recipie is as easy as – you guessed it! – pie! A traditional American dessert, Key Lime Pie uses Key limes that are native to the Florida Keys in the southeast of the US. You can use any type of lime to make the pie, though, and this recipe couldn't be easier to create! The filling is a simple mixture of Carnation condensed milk, limes and double creamy for a rich centre that's sits atop an equally as simple base comprised of Digestive biscuits crushed with melted butter. Drizzled with melted chocolate, this is one sweet pie that will be just as easy to devour as it was to bake!
