The UK’s Largest Plant-Based Kitchen Launches Chicken Katsu Fakeaway
allplants has launched a healthy take on the popular high street curry as part of its new Fakeaway Favourites Box
The allplants Fakeaway Favourites signature dish is a ‘Chicken’ Katsu Curry, which has been co-created with THIS™ – a vegan food brand known for making hyper-realistic plant-based food.
The new Katsu dish features THIS™ Isn’t Chicken pieces and blends turmeric, clove, ginger, carrots and caramelised onions with edamame and pak choi. Each portion is 459 calories, high in iron, low in sugar, contains two of your five a day, plus protein, B12, and vitamin C.
With a sweep of Great Taste Awards, allplants runs Europe’s largest plant-based kitchen – a newly-opened 20,000 square feet kitchen in London, and dishes are made with their in-house nutritionist.
Aly Findlay, allplants nutritionist explains: “allplants aim is to make eating plant-based and healthy more exciting. We did just that by recreating delicious takeaway style dishes from fresh and wholefood ingredients that are packed with nutrients – and half the price too.
“The chefs and I work very closely to ensure our Fakeaway Favourite dishes taste just as good as classic highstreet dishes, but we also adhere to high nutritional standards. You’ll get at least two of your five a day, a source of protein, iron and vitamin C in most of our meals. You shouldn’t have to compromise on taste to eat healthily.”
The Fakeaway Favourites Box includes the new Katsu creation, alongside five other dishes:
Pad Thai: A total of 505 calories, three of your five a day, high in vitamin C and low in saturated fat, this classic Thai dish has brown rice noodles, tossed in a light tamarind sauce with crunchy peppers, beansprouts, carrots and smoky tofu, topped with roasted peanuts.
Mac + Greens: A classic twist on the family favourite, the allplants version is high in fibre and has 23 grams of protein at 570 calories. The macaroni is tossed through ‘cheesy’ sauce with charred broccoli, fresh greens and a toasted crumb.
Teriyaki Udon: Spicy, sticky teriyaki sauce with udon noodles, sesame mushrooms, mixed fresh vegetables and toasted cashews. Rounding at 420 calories, with a source of protein, iron and vitamin C.
Mushroom + Chickpea Korma: At 599 calories, this healthier twist on the Korma contains four of your five day and is high in iron, calcium, and fibre. It’s a creamy almond and coconut korma, with garlic mushrooms, turmeric chickpeas, sweet potato and roasted aubergine.
Golden Peanut Satay: At 611 calories, this healthy version has 13 grams of fibre, 25 grams of protein and 75% of your daily intake of vitamin C and is high in iron (64% of daily intake). This peanut, coconut and ginger curry, with roasted squash, red pepper, and broccoli, is served with a red cabbage and quinoa salad.
