Vegan chocolate and sweets to tuck into this Easter
You may be too old for an Easter egg hunt, but you're always young enough for an Easter treat...
1. Doisy & Dam Easter Bundle, £13, doisyanddam.com
We love Doisy & Dam for its ethical values – this B-Corp is all about premium, natural ingredients that are fairly sourced – but it helps that the brand's chocolate is top-notch, too. The new Easter Bundle is a perfect little set: it comprises a Nuttercups Egg with a dark chocolate shell plus two packets of smooth Almond Nuttercups; and two bags of Good Eggs, mini vegan chocolate eggs in a crunchy sugar coating. Both new products (which we were excited to learn will join the existing collection) are ethically sourced single-origin and palm oil-free Columbian dark chocolate products, which are made from purely natural ingredients.
2. Love Cocoa Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Luxury Egg, £10.95, Ocado
Hand-harvested crunchy sea salt flakes sourced from Maldon in Essex are blended with organic, fair-trade 70% cacao dark chocolate in this gorgeous egg. The luxury, palm-oil-free offering is beautifully presented with a pastel-hued geometric egg design in recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
3. Moser Roth Free From Egg, £4.99, Aldi
What came first: the egg or the truffle? This Easter egg ticks all of the boxes: it's wheat-, gluten- and milk-free, but certainly doesn't lack in flavour. The 65% dark chocolate egg is combined with delicious hazelnut truffles for an added treat.
4. Buttermilk Dairy-Free Hot Cross Bun Easter Fudge, £3, Sainsbury's
Whether you're not a fan of chocolate, or are simply looking for something a bit more creative, this unique fudge will summon Spring. Buttermilk has taken hot cross buns as its inspiration and created a fantastic new crumbly fudge mixed with raisins, fruit peel and mixed spices for a fragrant treat that's ideal for Easter.
5. Mummy Meagz Chuckie Egg, 99p, Holland and Barrett
If you're missing your seasonal fix of Cadbury's Creme Eggs, then fear not: Mummy Meagz has launched its Chuckie Egg. The vegan creme egg is seriously sweet, and will certainly satsify your cravings.
6. Montezuma's Like No Udder Connie Chick With Like No Udder Buttons, £6, montezumas.co.uk
If you're eagerly awaiting the Easter bunny's arrival, you better hope he has this adorable little set in his basket for you. Montezuma’s new range of cute chocolate chicks comes with a bag of the brand's dairy-free bite-sized buttons for a moreish chocolatey treat.
7. Swizzels Spring Selection, £1, available nationwide
If chocolate just won't cut it, you can still get your sweet fix over Easter. Popular British sweets brand Swizzels has launched its Spring Selection variety bag. It's ideal for sharing (though we won't blame you if you don't want to), and contains a range of Swizzels’ best loved products that are suitable for vegans, including the iconic Refresher Chew bars and delicious Fruity Pops lollies.
8. Cocoa Libre Dairy- & Gluten-Free Vegan Orange Chocolate Easter Egg, £4.99, freefromall.co.uk
Natural orange oil and rice milk combine for this twist on a traditional chocolate Easter egg. Beautifully packaged and made with 100% vegan and gluten-free ingredients, it's great value for money, too.
9. Salcombe Dairy Vegan Single-origin Chocolate Easter Egg and Chocolate Bars, £19, salcombedairy.co.uk
Independent chocolatier Salcombe Dairy has released a range of hand-crafted, bean-to-bar Easter eggs made from the company's single-origin Peruvian chocolate. The Easter egg arrives in beautiful, fully compostable packaging with a nautical rope handle, making it a lovely gift option.
10. The Fudge Kitchen, £16, fudgekitchen.co.uk
If you're bored of the traditional egg-themed Easter treats, then The Fudge Kitchen's slabs of goodness make an ideal alternative. The dairy-free collection, which comes in a luxury, foiled gift box, features a selection of vegan fudge made from coconut or soya milk, with flavours including Hot Cross Bun, Lemon Drizzle, Millionaire’s Shortbread and Traditional Toffee. The authentic slab fudge follows an 1800s original core recipe, and is handmade in copper pans over an open flame, before being creamed on marble counters to create a soft centre and crisp coating. This is indulgence at its finest. *Available from 20th March, until stocks last.
11. Divine Dark Chocolate Egg with Himalayan Pink Salt, £5, Milk & More
Fairtrade brand Divine Chocolate is offering a vegan Easter egg made from dark chocolate and a sprinkling of sea salt for that salty-sweet combination that we love. All the Easter egg packaging is plastic-free, and the foil wrapping is fully recyclable, too. Better yet, Milk & More delivers direct to your door! *Available from 23rd March.
