Vegan Fake Tans: Reviewed
Save your skin from the UV this summer, and experiment with these ethical tanning solutions instead
1. ECO BY SONYA HEMPITAN BODY TAN WATER, £31, ECOBYSONYADRIVER.EU
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this tan, as its consistency is unlike anything I’ve used before! It’s a clear water-based formula which I lightly spritzed onto my skin before rubbing in with a tanning mitt. I was worried I wouldn’t apply it consistently enough, but I had no need to worry – after an hour of letting this tan develop, I washed it off to reveal lightly sunkissed skin that looked totally natural. I am certainly sold on this one!
2. HANDMADE NATURALS NATURAL TANNING CREAM, £12, HANDMADENATURALS.CO.UK
As soon as I applied this tan, I was impressed – mainly owing to how easily-absorbed it is. Applying the product took barely any time, and I was able to put on a dressing gown a few minutes later, letting the formula develop overnight to reveal a natural, golden tan in the morning. I like how fuss-free this product is, without turning my skin any hint of orange.
3. GREEN PEOPLE SELF TAN LOTION, £20, GREENPEOPLE.CO.UK
I loved the natural results this tan gave, but its development time of 2-3 hours meant that this is better suited to the weekend when you have a bit more time to lounge around. The formula was quick-drying and non-greasy, so I didn’t feel stuck to my clothes as I slothed about on a rainy Sunday.
4. LAVERA TINTED MOISTURISING CREAM, £14.90, LAVERAUK.CO.UK
This moisturiser melted into my skin and gave pretty decent coverage, similar to a BB cream. My complexion looked totally natural and dewy, and I was pleased to see organic shea butter, aloe vera and cocoa butter is included in the formula. I’ll definitely be reaching for this when I need a hint of make-up on summer days.
