Green Cleaning Company Bio-D Signs Up To Plastic Pact
Bio-D is the latest organisation out of 250 which have signed up to The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.
Part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, the concept is supporting a vision where plastics never become waste. Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Unilever are amongst the other companies which have signed the pledge, alongside many of the world’s largest packaging producers, brands, retailers, governments and NGOs. The aim is to eliminate single-use plastics from their operations and to make investments in new technology so that all packaging is 100% recyclable by 2025. p>
Bio-D is already ahead of this target and plans to have its complete range made up of packaging created entirely from UK post-consumer waste by the end of 2018. Already, 65% of Bio-D’s household products are made from used plastic bottles, and after use, the packaging can once again be recycled. p>
Lloyd Atkin, Managing Director of Bio-D, said: “This new packaging roll-out is the latest step in ensuring we minimise our impact on the environment. Seeing so many organisations sign-up to the Global Commitment is amazing, however, we want to go one step further. We’re actually asking our customers to refill their products whenever possible, to further reduce their plastic consumption. If everyone took small steps to change their plastic usage, together we could make a huge difference.” p>
